Faculty of Science Enhanced the Career Service for International Students

Faculty of Science has worked together with the student association Leiden Science China (LSC) and partner Universities to help international students to obtain better career opportunities after graduate.

On 25th April 2017, a recruitment team from Sun Yat-Sen University, one of the top 10 universities in China visited Faculty of Science of Leiden University, invited by the Faculty and LSC community.

Doc. Qingyu Meng, Education Councilor of Chinese embassy in Netherlands gave a brief introduction, following with the presentation of career opportunities in Sun Yat-Sen University. Recruiters also held one to one conversations with students and young researchers from Leiden University. 5000 faculty vacancies will be filled in term of five years in Sun Yat-Sen University, many of them aimed in the field of science.

Mobility of young researchers often formalizes a special connection between universities, which turns into valuable collaboration on researches. By a survey in Faculty of Science, getting more assistant on career development is one of the top aspirations of international students.

Since beginning of 2017, Faculty of Science has facilitated 3 LSC career workshops. “Students and young researchers felt very helpful to have a platform to exchange information on career development, and we definitely look forward to seeing more international recruiters in Leiden.” Says Feng Jiang, Chair of the Leiden Science China.
